Eligibility & Cohorts
The competition is open to international pianists across the following divisions (age calculated as of June 1, 2026).
Note: Winners will be selected separately for each subdivision.
Pre-College and Youth pianists Divisions
- up to 9 years old
- 10 to 12 years old
- 13 to 14 years old
- 15 to 16 years old
- 17 to 18 years old
Young Artist Professional Pianist Division: Ages 19 to 35
- ages 19 to 35
Amateur Non-Professional Pianist Divisions: Ages 20 and up
- 20 to 35 years old
- 36 to 55 years old
- 55 years old and up
Video Submission Guidelines
- Platform: Videos must be uploaded to YouTube as Unlisted links and submitted via the official registration form. (Please ensure the privacy setting is not set to “Private,” or the adjudication panel will be unable to view it).
- Quality: Audio and video must be clear, entirely unedited within each piece, and framed to showcase the pianist’s hands and face clearly throughout the performance.
- Round 1 Repertoire: Up to 15 minutes of solo repertoire (movements or full works from any stylistic period).
- Round 2 Repertoire: The 2026 WIPF competition adjudication panel will select a piece or a group of pieces from the submitted video performance for presentation at the Kennedy Center
Fees & Financial Structure
The competition operates on a progressive commitment tier designed to minimize upfront risks for performers:
Round 1 Registration Fee
Covers application processing, video evaluation, written faculty feedback scorecard, and official digital certification.
- Round 1 Registration Fee: Early Bird Entry (June 1 – June 21): $75
- Round 1 Registration Fee: Late Entry (June 22 – July 12): $75
Round 2 Advancement Fee: $100
Applicable only to contestants selected by the adjudication panel and invited to perform live at the Kennedy Center
Optional Masterclass Upsell: $150
Participants may opt-in during registration to secure an individual virtual or in-person masterclass with a world-class WIPF faculty member, subject to scheduling
Terms and Conditions
- All entry and advancement fees are strictly non-refundable.
- By submitting an application, participants grant WIPF the right to utilize performance clips or virtual masterclass footage for promotional, marketing, and organizational media.
- International Travel Notice: Because of the tight turnaround time between the winner announcements and the live showcase, all international applicants must possess valid passports and any necessary U.S. travel visas at the time of application.
Prizes & Educational Benefits
- The REACH at KC Showcase: Winners in each division will be invited to perform live on August 6 or 7, 2026, at the Kennedy Center’s dynamic campus expansion, The REACH.
- Global Visibility: Winners will be featured across WIPF’s digital channels, social media frameworks, and global conservatory partner networks.
- Verified Faculty Scorecards: Direct, constructive, written feedback from our senior faculty panel to guide your artistic development.
- Aesthetic Certification: Every participant receives an official WIPF Certificate of Achievement or Participation celebrating their dedication to pianistic excellence.
