Professor and the director of the piano program at the School of Music of the National University of Costa Rica, Dr. ALEXANDR SKLIOUTOVSKI has obtained international recognition for his achievements in the preparation of concert pianists in Costa Rica. His intense and successful work has been acknowledge with many awards:
- Academic Innovation Award, awarded by the Autonomous University of Mexico and the National University of Costa Rica (2004)
- Omar Dengo Prize, granted by the Faculty of Arts, School of Literature and Language Sciences, School of Philosophy
- National University Press “Palabra” Prize (2009)
- Multiple awards in international competition in USA, France, Italy, Russia and Lithuania.
With Dr. Sklioutovsky’s mentoring, young artists have won over 800 national and international competitions, including the Tureck International Bach Competition (USA), International Competition of Slavic Music (France), American Protégé International Piano Competition, International Competition Valentino Bucchi (Italy), American Fine Arts Festival, Golden Era of Romantic Music International Competition, and Young Soloists (Costa Rica). The work and performances of his students have brought about more than 800 articles that have been published in the press, radio and television, both nationally and internationally.
Dr. Sklioutovski graduated from the Tashkent Conservatory in the class of professor Angelina Danilova, and completed his graduate studies at the Urals Mussorgsky State Conservatory with professor Isaak Zetel and the Moscow State Conservatory, where he studied with a renowned pianist and pedagogue Yakov Zak. Dr. Sklioutovsky was on faculty at the Kyrgyz State Institute of Arts since 1970, and professor and chair of the piano department since 1986. Since 1995, Dr. Alexander Sklioutovsky is a professor at the National University of Costa Rica, where he is presently chair of the piano department (since 2001).
