
Internationally admired and acclaimed pianist, Dr. Kwon is one of the most recognized artist in South Korea. Her commanding technique, lyricism, and exceptionally beautiful sound-making gifts are consistently acknowledged by the press, audience and among the critics. Also, her in-depth knowledge in piano literature and teaching experiences in academic field is outstanding among concert pianists.
As a solo pianist, she has constantly performed in numerous music centers in Europe (Paris, Rome, Salzburg), and in the USA( Jordan Hall and Williams Hall in Boston, Carnegie Weil Hall and Merkin Hall in New York, Lousiana – Lousiana International Piano Series and Bach Concert Series, Voertman Hall in Texas, to name a few). Also in Canada (Banff Festival), and countless solo recitals and concerts in South Korea (including Busan Grand Arts Center, Seoul Arts Center, Kum-Ho Art Hall, Youngsan Art Hall, Mozart Hall and Sejong Arts Hall). She also performed with Orchestras such as Kang-nam Philharmonic Orchestra, Busan Philharmonic Orchestra, and Korean Symphony Orchestra.
Dr. Kwon won many Competitions including Korea Orchestral Festival Soloist Audition, New England Conservatory Honor’s Audition and concerto competition, Clark University Competition, Texas Steinway Competition and International Viotti Valsesia Competition and Grand IBLA Competition to name a few. She had numerous Masterclasses in Korea, USA, Russia, Italy and Canada. She was invited as a jury member of numerous Korean domestic competitions and of the 2009 International Lousiana Piano Competition, 2017 Washington International Piano Festival Competition, 2018 Rachmaninoff International Piano Competition(Moscow, Russia), 2018 International Collegiate Concerto Competition (Dallas, TX), 2021 and 2019 Bryansk Symphony Festival and Concert( Bryansk, Russia). She was also invited as a visiting professor for 2012 and 2017 Washington International Piano Festival.
As a teacher, she taught many talented young pianists from very early age to graduate level at top rated Universities and Music Academy for gifted Children at Seoul Arts Center in Korea. Her students won many Korean piano competitions and international competitions. Also, her students admitted to New England Conservatory, Manhattan school of Music, Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Indiana University, University of Texas in Austin, Texas Christian University, University of North Texas, University of Michigan, Indiana University, Peabody School of Music, etc., many with full scholarships.
Dr. Kwon received her ‘Bachelor of Music’ and ‘Master of Music’ with Honor’s from New England Conservatory of Music in Boston and her ‘Doctor of Musical Arts’ degree from University of North Texas. Dr. Kwon was a Visiting professor of Music at Sejong University. She also taught at Seoul Arts Center for Gifted Young Artists, Yewon School, Seoul Arts Highschool, Seoul National University and Korea National University of Arts.
